In this age of the Smart Home, as a new home buyer you may ask how you can use the latest technology to make your new home vastly more water efficient than existing homes. The answer, as most homeowners are finding out, is on-site Home Water Recycling. What most home buyers do not yet know is how to talk to their builder about Home Water Recycling when it is not offered as a "Home Option".
On today's segment of BE WATERWISE WEDNESDAYS on KTLA Channel 5, Steven Ruffner of KB Home talks about the importance of water efficiency in new homes in Southern California. KB Home introduced greywater recycling at its Double ZeroHouse earlier this year. At the KB Home Double ZeroHouse, the Nexus Home Water Recycler was used to treat the drain water from showers and laundry (e.g. greywater) and then reuse it a second time to water the lawn. Compared to older homes in the same area, the Double ZeroHouse is expected to use 150,000 gallons less water annually.
